Not too much for me …
Not too much for me but I’ve heard a lot of people say that. Pretty much personal choice. But at the same time this guitar gets all sorts of tones. Not just the Classic Twangy sound like your talkin about. I used my Tele for a few rock songs one time.
too much pop and …
too much pop and twang but i like his theory nyway im all bout les pauls i hava studio
Nice I’ll be …
Nice I’ll be putting together my special Warmoth 52 custom tele. I can’t wait to get a tele my will be for the 1950’s rockabilly sound.
I think it’s neat …
I think it’s neat that of all the guitars he’s had & played that he’s still fond of Telecasters… actually I have a clip of GE playing some finger pickin’ blues on the street in Tokyo Japan in ‘84 (during Hall & Oates Rock N soul tour) and he was using a creamy blonde Tele… the people on the street loved it and that must’ve been a treat! wonder if he ever does that in NY…..
obviously a …
obviously a humbucker fan.. but why waste your time here complaining about it… go where your fave musician is using a guitar YOU like cause it’s dumb.personally i like the Telecaster above any guitar for tone, however i think certain electric guitars sound good in their own way. but i like Teles cause you can dig in to them and beat the crap out of em and they still work, among other things.
yes
yes
Lookup Strat Vs …
Lookup Strat Vs Langcaster…Now guys we all know what a strat sounds like. The twang, the chuck, the honk, the quack all the great sounds. So we have a guy that I consider to have a video that is trying to sell his guitars by macking Strats sound their worst. Tell me if I am off base…comment on the video and let them know as Strat players if the “Thanks Mr. Fender” and strange EQ makes you want to buy one of their guitars. If so say it, if not…say it.
i hate the fender …
i hate the fender twang, this telecaster has that pop sound in the attack of it. hate it.
14:56 – 15:00 LOL!
14:56 – 15:00 LOL!
exactly! however If …
exactly! however If you see him live or especially when he’s playing with Rock bands like Hall & Oates, Dylan, Bowie his playing does get into that kind of intensity this side of Hendrix! He used to do solo spots w/ H&O during sweet soul music, etc and he’d blow u away man! also he throws his Tele WAY up in the air and catches it! he broke a few like that but hey i’m sure they doubled his gig money for it cause that’s great stuff. GE the best there IS WAS and EVER will BE!
13:52-14:00 lol!
13:52-14:00 lol!

Were they exaggerating about the telecaster producing a million tones?
Wow, Fender makes …
Wow, Fender makes some great sounding guitars. The telecaster rocks!
GE really gives you …
GE really gives you a wonderful insight about his experiences and about the Telecaster. Awsome clip! Good job Fender!
personal opinion …
personal opinion fender just wants you to buy there guitars but you cant get a semi hollow body guitar sound from a strat fender is like the mac of guitars lol u have a whole lot of fan boys and a whole lot of haters lol
You might try both …
You might try both out for comfort… I had a telecaster but found the edge under my right arm was uncomfortable. The strat has a more comfortable rounded edge.
I used to see …
I used to see G.E.walking around NYC or hanging out at Matt Uminov’s guitar shop on Bleeker once and a while and obviously recognized him from SNL. But, never paid much attention to his playing. Then, by chance I went to a free concert at a park where G.E. and his band were playing. I wasn’t expecting anything at all. Wow! What a great experience. If you are a guitar fanatic or just a music lover, go see him and his band play. youll enjoy it.
Personally, I …
Personally, I couldn’t agree more. He’s just NOT that player! If all the GE Smith fans out there were to go post on Steve Vai clips talking about how souless his playing is, the shred monkeys would freak! Why would you judge a great R&B player like Smith for not always ripping it up? That’s not how this bird sings, dig?
I’ve had the …
I’ve had the pleasure of working with GE and he’s nothing but top notch all around. Great groove, taste and soul. Also, a great guy…A true renaissance man.
Fender also say …
Fender also say that the Stratocaster is
“the only guitar you ever need”.
Make up your minds guys !
this guy is awesome
this guy is awesome
I have been …
I have been debating on whether or not I want a tele or strat and I think I just made up my mind. Amazing versatility and sound.
Who cares how he …
Who cares how he looks like and who cares if his life doesn’t revolve around guitar gymnastics.
Fast is good for one thing, soul is godt for another. If you can’t feel his vibe, you should watch this again. It IS musicianship.
lol, the champ amp …
lol, the champ amp is amazing, only 5 watts, but it gives a great tone
