Squier Vintage Modified TB
Just a quick demo of the Squier Vintage Modified TB.
I wanted to show how the bass sounds out of the box with no setup and stock strings. The tone setting was all the way on the bass side. Recording was direct to the PC using the Lexicon Omega and Sonar 4. No effects or EQ-ing done to the audio.
I plan on posting up some more videos that with the tone setting set at the halfway mark and then on the full treble side.

that’s funny you …
that’s funny you would say that. I was just playing around with my amp settings the other day and got my 2001 fender jazz sounding what I considered to be really good (I had the amp and bass pretty flat with just minor tweaks… I normally have a more “drastic” EQ setting). When I plugged the Squier in the amp with the same settings… it sounded really DULL. The recording in this video is from a direct in, so I’m not quite sure what’s going on. Maybe I just need new strings.
wow this sounds …
wow this sounds almost as good as my fender 95 j-bass
Very helpful to …
Very helpful to watch this video! I’m a vintage and pseudo-vintage bass enthusiast, and I was thinking about this bass (or a Precision ‘51 by squier that is about to be released).
Thanks!
I’ve been playing …
I’ve been playing for about 14 years on and off.
I hate thinking about that because I feel like I should be way better than I am for having been playing for such a long time.
In my opinion… it …
In my opinion… it depends. I like the big fat sound when I am playing all by my lonesome. It’s just fun… real fun imo. But I’m not sure how good it would be for live performances or recording. I also not the best slapper in the world and I’m not currently playing in any bands right now either.
And the pickup does sort of get in the way like TrNorton said… but if you play around with it enough you can get used to it.
yeah, cake’s “the …
yeah, cake’s “the distance” – cool bass line !
that bass is nice for fat tone, but only for that
Bought one over a …
Bought one over a gibson EB! It sounded like the gibson did in my head.
Very flat modern feel neck with thin clear laquer – the neck feel is worst feature IMHO. Why no vintage amber neck?
Great sound and you can brighten it with thin roundwounds but keep the deep stuff.
not with the pickup …
not with the pickup in the way. it’s good for lying down a deep, punchy jazz/blues bassline though. i would like to see that with flatwounds (fender flats) with the volume up and tone all the way down. it would make me cream myself
is there a good …
is there a good slap sound on this bass?
Nice pants man!

Nice pants man!
For how long have you been playing? Really like the bass, keep up the good work and my vintage mod.

I want to do some …
I want to do some more demos but haven’t had the time. Hopefully I’ll get some free time soon.
It’s definitely not …
It’s definitely not as versatile as a j-bass. But I don’t think I could get the same sound out of my j-bass as I can get out of this.
I’d recommend it. It’s a solid bass. It’s not a must-have bass… but it’s a cool bass to have.
that thing is nice …
that thing is nice bro..very warm yet bright sound comin off of it..but i bet its not as versatile as the j-bass’s eh?
what you think? you recommend this to a fellow player?
Awsome! Thank you.
