Winnie’s Drumkit # 4 “The Leedy”
Winnie's Drumkit in Amsterdam; The best vintage drums for sale! Also known for it's famous Drumschool, Recording Studio, Showroom and Drum Museum.
As we left the drumschool Winnie sat down to show us his Leedy 1937(!) Trap set with original Leedy temple blocks, Trap tray, Leedy Cowbells, Triangle, and i think a Leedy Broadway Snare drum. Also some great sounding A. Zildjian paper thin cymbals there. The canvas covers and vulcanized fibre cases, sticks and Leedy "turtle bakelite" brushes are also somewhere outhere. Now ain't that something!?

Its a Zildjian. …
all the best.
Its a Zildjian. early on they were called constantinople cymbales (back when made in Turkey). either its a remake (ie a modern cymbal of the current zildjian constantinople family) or its a real old cymbal. either way what ive typed should be enough for you to be able to find more info about it. research the history of zildjian. wikipedia is a start

hey, you seem to know allot about vintage cymbals! i’ve just bought this approx 13″ cymbal with the only marking on it being “constantinople” with some script and a half moon with a star on it.
i just bought it because it has an awesome sound as a small crash/large ish splash but i dont suppose you could enlighten me as to what it is? if it’ll help i could take a piccy.

Cool traps, Cool playing !
Right! The hihats …
Right! The hihats are 10 inch paperthin Zendjian cymbals. You can almost bend them in half, thin like splash cymbals. To me they sound like the hihats Jo Jones used in the early Count Basie Big Band. The 2 other cymbals are A. Zildjian’s, pre war stamp, probably 1930s. Very sensitive and paperthin weight, typical for that period, wonderful for low volume settings.
Thanks,
Winnie
