The speed …
The speed difference is interesting. I have 3 of these McGraw-Edison box fans, an Eskimo, Manning-Bowman, and Toastmaster. The Manning-Bowman (with the extra 2 bolts on the side of the grille) and the Eskimo (without the bolts) both have a raised pattern to the blade hub. The Toastmaster has an “embossed” hub.
My older fans with the “raised” hub actually have a slower low speed than my newer Toastmaster. My Toastmaster also was slow to start til I completely tore down the motor and re-oiled it.
