What do people mean by a ‘real’ telecaster (electric guitar)?

“Real” in this context means made in USA (as opposed to Japan, China, Korea, or Mexico).

exactly as average mike said – A “real” telecaster is the American made Fender version.

A real one would have the brand name Fender on the headstock. Fender is the original “real” manufacturer of Telecasters!
