Some advice please (guitar related)?

My mom thinks me playing guitar is "just a phase". Today I showed her this picture of this beautiful guitar, my dream guitar which I've wanted for years and explained that thats all I would ever want as a graduation gift (high school). And she said in a mean manner "that's just a phase, etc". I kinda got heartbroken almost immediately I went to my room very sad because I really feel that playing guitar is my only passion in life. I'm just feeling so blue right know I don't now what to do. Any advice? Why doesn't she take me seriously? She flat out tells me I'm never gonna be famous and she doesn't support my dream.

btw its a Vintage Mahogany Gibson Les Paul Studio and ive been playing on a Squier Strat for over 8 months.

Follow your dreams. Don't let the nay-sayers discourage you.
I know of a question asked by a woman to her teenage nephew
(who she was raising), back in the 50's:
"The guitar is just fine, but it will never get you anywhere,
what will you do for a living?"
It may encourage you to know who was the object of this question/
statement: A cynical boy of Liverpool, named John Lennon.
I have to take your mothers' side on one point:
It is unlikely in the extreme you'll become famous at it.
There are brilliant musicians the world over who's names
no one has ever heard. I've been playing for nearly 40 years,
and no one knows of me either. This is not to say, it cannot happen,
but the odds are better for you to win a million bucks in a contest,
or finding an elephant relaxing in your front yard, is more likely.
How deep is your commitment? How much are you willing to
pass-up to achive your goal? Are the risks worth it to you?
You may put everything you have into this aim, and still come up
short. If you apply yourself, work hard there is no reason you can't
make a good living with your instrument, but fame is very iffy.
The odds are against you in that regard.
Keep things in perspective, take things in small steps.
Go for a realistic goal at first, then, if you make that one, go for the
next step, and so on. Your mother will take you seriously, in time,
when she learns how much it means to you -be patient with her.
And don't give up. Remember the Chinese proverb:
"A thousand mile journey begins with a single step"
Best of luck to you!

1934 Gibson L-50 Archtop F-hole Guitar

This magnificent piece of American heritage was recovered from Fredericksburg Texas. I had her fully restored by Guitar Tex, in San Antonio, who did an amazing job of fixing a small humidity crack on the back; they reattached some of the original binding, fully re-fretted the neck and had to refit one brace.

The finish is all original and shiny with just a few dings. The neck is perfectly straight, the action is flat and light, and you have to really pound on her to get a buzz off the low E. She is an absolute dream to play!

The '34 was the first year of the "narrow body" with a reduced saddle width and a longer body then the dreadnaughts. It was only made for one production year.

This instrument deserves one of the greats to play her, and that's certainly not me, but here we go anyway....

I've accompanied this guitar with a five track clip off the Yamaha using a clarinet, trumpet, and a nylon classical guitar. The drum patch was canned, but I dropped in the guerro just for fun. I don't have an ending for it yet, so it just cuts after 12 bars, and I wrote it for Piano, so its flavor a little odd for a Gibson; but I'ma little odd too.

I'm wearing a 1948 double brested dogbone from Tiffiny Togs, and I'm playing with a thin 60's fender pick in perloid blue, for a full vintage package...

I hope you enjoy this wonderfull vintage guitar, and please comment.
