I am just a beginner, so it has to be easy to play. but here's the thing, i dont like the look of the newer guitars, like the fender starcaster which is what i have now, I love the vintage look. But I cannot afford any of them, there like $1,000+ even on eBay (such as this one that I really like http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-1973-GIBSON-LES-PAUL-CUSTOM-ELECTRIC-GUITAR_W0QQitemZ290246833640QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item290246833640)
Does anyone know where I can get a guitar like this but for under $300? I know I probably wont be able to get an original for this cheap, but maybe a remake that has that vintage look and good sound quality?
Thank you
ok. Get an ibanez. Even the cheap ones sound amazing. You could pick up a hollow body ibanez for about 300 that looks like one of the old vintage guitars. Check out the ibanez website.
What i dont get, is why you would want a 300$ guitar if u hav a strat??? the sound is way more important than the look.

Okay;
So if you're just starting however you'd really like to get better and you want a permanent guitar, I'd go for a Fender Strat, not a Fender Squier. Squiers aren't full-size guitars, and Fender Strats are just amazing - Great guitar. Strats are the same as Squiers [same look, same colours..] They're just full-size and cost more.
[I have a Fender Strat, candy-apple red and white.. Maple neck.. I love it! Beautiful guitar..]
Good luck --

Here is a pretty rare little electric made in San Antonio, Texas around 1965.
It's a "Alamo Fiesta" and is the less commonly seen 3-pickups model.

This is my first electric guitar. I bought it when I was 15 from bandmate Harold Morgan in the summer of 1974. I paid the princely sum of $15 for it - all money I had earned playing drums in our band: "Steamin'" (1974-76). Yeah, I know. Anyway, this is the guitar that I learned to play on.
I've only ever seen one other guitar like it. That one was at Songbird Music in Toronto. Theirs still had the name plate: Kingston. That's how I finally identified mine because it has no identifiers anywhere inside or out. Theirs was also a violin shape but in a red-burst finish. It had cream P-90's. The pick-ups in my guitar have brass base-plates. It's a very odd piece.
The only modification I made was strictly for mid-70's shock value. As soon as I got it I applied leopard-print Mac-Tac all over the tortoise-shell pick-guard. (At least I didn't paint it.)
