Vintage Guitar is a great mag and here is their latest price guide. For more than 20 years, The Official Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide has been the industry-leading reference for values on vintage and collectible guitars, basses, lap steels, mandolins, ukuleles, amps, and effects. The expanded 2010 edition spans nearly 600 pages and includes information on more than 1,800 brands with more than 1,300 photos, plus a detailed look at the "hows" and "whys" of the collectible instrument market. This guide is the only such work to cover all this in one very affordable volume! To date more than 130,000 copies of The Guide have been sold.
I'm buying this book every year, just to know what the prices on the market are. It is my bible when I want to sell or to buy a guitar. Most of the most famous guitars are listed but if not, I also have the "Blue Book of Electric Guitars" and many others.

The idea is that since I have many vintage acoustics, I'll make some video clips now and then and present them here..

Alfonso Velez pleases the crowd with just his voice and his guitar, a '52 Martin given to him by a concert patron. I taped it, wishing I had a video camera -- but the accompanying photo collage will just have to do. It is a tribute to his guitar and to the vintage guitar shop in D.C. where we used to swap records -- 86 years old, as vintage as its merchandise. Song: "End of the World Blues." From the album Make It Plain on DJ Boy Records, available at Amazon.
Alfonso has a great new album coming out called THE WEATHER. He performs songs from it live on National Public Radio here:

Bill Asher makes the Weissenborn style instruments that phenom Ben Harper plays. This one is absolutely stunning. It's crafted from highly figured Koa throughout, even the fingerboard. It's also adorned with Rope Style purflings and fitted with a Seymour Duncan Mag Mic pickup. We've sold a number of vintage Weissenborns and this Asher has all the energy and the open voice of the great ones, only it's much prettier...
but I need to find one for cheaper if possible! All the cheaper ones I'm finding (more like 400 instead of 3,000) are lighter in color, don't look vintage, and just not the same. Can anyone help me out?

ah. the gibson hummingbird. the one guitar i know and love.
they are expensive regardless of where you look. try ebay if you havent already. and i know this is odd...but go to pawn shops in your area. they really dont know how to price instruments.
I've recently been looking at upgrading my old little Vintage V100 after a few years of decent service and want to make sure I buy the right thing!
I play mainly early-indie rock type stuff (pretty generic!) - massive Oasis, Smiths & Jam fan and so figured a semi acoustic might be the right way to go. I would like some the flexibility from that kind of sound, however.
And its got to look just as good as it sounds.
As I guess anyone who's ever heard Noel Gallagher play, I've checked out some Epiphone Dots and Casinos. I love them, I think they're great, but is it really that simple? Is that the best way to spend £400 on a guitar that'll have to last through light gigging for a good few years?
I'm no expert, help me out if you can! Much appreciated!
Tom
Try an epiphone semi-acoustic like this: http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/Guitars/Electric_Guitars/Electric_Guitars/p1020.aspx (sounds great)

Okay so my school has very few indie kids. Its full of those hardcore scene kids who are full of themselves, wear neon clothes and rat there hair. I am an old souled teen who writes poetry, always had a novel and my acoustic guitar with me and likes indie music and vintage clothes. Im starting to feel so different. Everyone around me is scene or prep, people think Im strange. But what I want to know is, are there others like me? And if so, please explain and tell me about yourselves
